Relationships

Relationships can be so hard at times. It’s kind of crazy how people can say how they can spend the rest of their lives with someone and within foul step, they are no where to be seen again. It’s easy to be jealous of people who is with someone else but sometimes I just tell myself that deserve that because they fought for it. I treated my girl with neglect and I get what I deserve. It’s kind of weird how people only learn something when it’s too late to get someone back. One of the hardest things about a relationship is when it fails and you go into the move on stage. Nothing is harder than throwing away months or even years of work into the ocean never to be seen again. What would someone do if they had a second chance? Or even the power to rewind time. If I had rewind time I’d go back to the day I asked her out. Make sure she’s loved and always laughing. Those awkward times at the movies. Or even walking through the school or the streets. Always told myself we would travel the world together. Now sitting in a class together. That’s it. I have to write an essay but I can’t focus so now lets write about love. I wonder what happens if you ever found your soulmate? Will you like everything they like? Will a couple who shares different trait make it to the end? One thing I always pondered about was joining the military if everything fails for me. How does the lady withstand all those years her boyfriend or husband is gone serving his country. I know that if my girl joined the military I’d grab my sorry ass and pick up a gun to fight bad too. I think i’m going to start writing here, I like it. I have no friends in school so whenever I am in pain I have to hold it all in. But everyone I know always has someone to call to cry too or family members to back them up. I just sit in my room and play video games hoping my emotions will fade away. Well I have to go now.

Catcher In The Rye: A Walk Through The Book

Friends.

  1.  Having a friend you can always rely on can be a good sign of being in a good mental state. Whenever this need is not met, we (people) can do very rash decision trying to make up for that need. That’s why we, as a species, should care for each other and have each others back so everyone can be in a good mental state. Image result for catcher in the rye(holden’s favorite hat)

Point of view.

2. We always think that we are right and that if these adults were in our shoes that they would realize what is going on. But we never take the time to see the adults point of view and just claim that we are right. Maybe sometimes adults are just trying to help us…

Annoying people.

3. We all have that one friend who is always annoying and won’t shut their mouth. The only thing we think about is “what can we can to shut them up!?” But we don’t realize that sometimes we actually need someone like them around us. It keeps us from being lonely and keeps us active in listening to what is going on around us. Instead of shutting out the world, we can listen to whats going on. Image result for the catcher in the rye ackley

Love.

4. We all have our moments when we fall for someone. But the someone happens to be going out with someone you talk to or are close with. What are you supposed to do then? This question has always lead to someone messing up everything when everything could have been just fine. You can’t fight the person but you can talk to the person you fell for. That’s why we have to find a balance between that.

Death.

5. Some of us has someone in our lives that has died when we felt so connected to them.. We can’t let this stop us from keep going on with our lives. If that person stood in front of you, the only thing they would tell you is to keep living your life without them but just don’t forget who they were.

Thoughts.

6. Going back to number 4 where I mentioned how things can get messed up when you barge in a guys date with a girl. It’s always best to just things be the way they are because the chances of the couple being together forever is very very low. Just get to know the person but don’t do anything rash. Love is very complicated. I say this from experience.

Life.

7. Running away from home is something all of us have thought about sometime in our lives. Unless you have godly perfect parents, you probably almost ran away once. This is usually not a good solution because we don’t know what the real world has prepared for us. Our parents has gone through the stage where they are taught how the real world works and we haven’t really been through that stage yet. If you ever need help, seek help. There will always be someone to help.

Play Day

1. The most interesting thing i learned from the video and podcast is that play is something kids need more of because being in school all the time does not teach them any social skills. There are also play where you just do whatever you want and then there is play where there is a set of rules you have to follow which makes the activity more fun.

2. Something I noticed is that kids in this generation are always pressured to be better than their parents and most parents think giving them more schooling will help them become better than their parents. A question I had was do kids even go out and play on the streets anymore? What percentage of kids actually goes out to play.

Something I did that I really enjoy was writing on the ground with chalk. When i was little I would always use chalk for my writing. Not pencil or pen or marker, chalk was the best. Getting yourself dirty while coloring/writing outdoors is more satisfying than sitting inside drawing something with a pencil. I brought a deck of card because i initially wanted to play some card games with someone but no one wanted to play with cards since a lot of people also brought cards. There were numerous things to do with board games to  blowing bubbles to playing handball. One thing I wished I had done was being more active and trying to do more activities in the 55 minutes and playing with playdoh because although I play with playdoh, i don’t feel like I spent enough time with it so i’m not as satisfied. I mostly just sat around drawing on the ground.

I enjoyed the freedom i got for a period for global school play day. It’s a great way to relax your mind and just enjoy life for a little bit because being a little kid again is not something everyone gets to be when they grow older. Something I learned from this day is that when someone works hard, they need time to relax. When a student receives a lot of homework one day, they should have the next day to relax their mind and do something else besides school. But teachers (especially in AP classes) overload their students with homework everyday which increases stress. Something that should be done differently next year is instead of releasing everyone to do whatever they choose to have 2 days dedicated to global school play day and one day allow the students to do whatever and the next day have the entire class do something has a whole and try to keep it to what the majority of the class wants to do.

I was mainly on my own the whole time during this period but I wanted to be alone. It was nice having time to myself and not having to deal with other people. Everyone needs their alone time. When I become a parent I won’t force my kids to always be reading a book or do math problems all day because all that will do is hurt them in the long run. They should have time to themselves and their friends so they will have a sense of who they are without needing the guidance of someone.

How dangerous is it to be a slave?

Imagine being put in the shoes of a slave. Always starving and fighting for food. No home to go to, separated from family, and working from sunrise to sunset. This is what slaves have to do every single day until the day they die. Slavery is not a thing from the past, although it is illegal in most countries, there is indeed slaves today in the modern world which is called “Modern Slavery.”

One of the biggest reason why it is so dangerous to be a slave is because of the torture they are put through. not agreeing to work is certain for death to come for these people. In the book “Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass,” he describes the horrible situation these slaves has to go through whether it is being whipped, shot at, or losing a body part. Slaves can not just walk away from being enslaved. They are threatened with death or their family being used against them so just walking away from slavery is not a choice, it’s forced.

No one is safe from slavery. It is not only geared towards adult, people of all ages and gender are enslaved and forced to work. One of four slaves are children. a lot of these kids are born into slavery. These kids does not know anything but to work day in and day out and does not realize that they are being manipulated. One wrong move and consequences is severe. Everyday, these slaves live in fear of being attacked and is lacking the everyday needs we all receive (food, water, shelter, etc).

If a slave decides to run away from their so called “home”, hunters will be hired to track the slaves down and either kill them or capture them and return them back home, which will result in the slave being whipped. Slaves are not educated so when running away from their demons, they have no idea what they are running into, if anyone can be trusted, and they have no idea how to hunt for food and find a source of water. Running away almost never works.

Slavery is still a problem in 2018. This is still a big problem in today’s society with around 40 million people enslaved worldwide. These slaves can not do anything to free themselves, they have to wait for people like us to free them.

Trust

He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him! One thing we all have to fight about every day revolves around the topic or word, trust. “Should this person be trusted or is the risk of trusting them too big?” To earn trust is a big task to go for because people always gets tricked and played with. So the real question arises, “Why can trust be such a difficult thing to gain?” One thing to about telling lies or the truth is that it begins when one is a kid and depending on how much value the truth holds by the individual will determine if the person will lie or tell the truth. Lying is a habit. Lying tends to become a habit. People who tell small lies will usually be fine with telling big ones. Once proven that one cannot be trusted, it will be very hard to actually even gain a little of trust back because trust has a really big risk factor in it that people decide to take it someone else and if it all goes downhill, do does the trust level. A reason why trust is so hard to gain is because “Trust usually isn’t something people openly talk about or address in relationships until it’s been broken” and “breaking or betraying someone’s trust is a game changer and it negatively affects the relationship without question. Sometimes you have the opportunity to rebuild the trust and sometimes you don’t.” An example of trust and the truth being messed with is in a story called The Crucible. When John Proctor finally confessed to adultery to court with Abigail Williams because he was tired of her faking about Satan to get his wife jailed and killed. But the thing that separated his wife from going to safety and being killed is if he was lying or not. The court did not trust him because he is a man and Abigail is a little girl and it is believed back then that little kids don’t lie or do not know how so they were trusting her more. So John vouched for his wife because he knew she would never ever lie about anything. His wife Elizabeth Proctor has never lied in her entire life so he knew that if she sold out Abigail then he and she would be free with his reputation ruined but he would still be with his wife. But his wife did not know he confessed and she lied to protect his identity and ended up ruining his life. That is why trust is something that gets messed around all the time with. No one will know exactly what to trust so then that creates problems between people so trust starts becoming a liability. “It is rare for people to be asked the question which puts them squarely in front of themselves.”

Pain Tolerance

There are many types of pain out there in the real world and it is mainly categorized as physical pain and emotional pain. In sports there is physical pain and then there is mental toughness. It is not often that someone will do something that just destroys them inside and outside and they are willing to do it over and over. That’s cross country running. People might argue that basketball is much worse for people and in some cases it is true. In basketball a lot of things can go wrong because it’s much more physical than cross country running, but one thing that never really happens is if the athlete is tired they get switched out and get to rest. So their mentally is not as strong as a long distance runner because when you are running a race, there is no option but to suck up the pain and just finish. There is no switching out runners during the race because you are on your own for about the next seventeen minutes. Imagine you are completely dead from running at 5:30 pace for such a long period of time and just found out you have one more mile to go. Like anyone would just drop out of that race or slow down dramatically. Only people that have the physical fitness and with the most important factor of running “mental toughness” can survive the last mile without slowing down.

Even in track it’s much different between a mid distance runner and a short distance runner. In short distance it is basically who can move their legs the fastest. Of course in mid distance it’s kind of the same idea but also who had the smarter race and who has better mentally. Running long distance is a real experience that most people skip out on because it just “hurts” too much but it is very rewarding, even if you leave the sport with no medals and trophies. Learning how to tolerate pain physically and mentally is what cross country teaches you and most sports do not offer the same lesson. Doing a short morning jog for 3 miles is much different than racing a 3 mile with pressure knowing that if you do bad your team will lose. It’s much like how a dude shooting hoops for fun is not going to end up going to be an NBA player.

A Hard Life for Runners

Something that always bothers me is when I can’t seem to push past my mental barrier. I’m a cross country runner and one of the biggest component to mid-long distance running is to have a very strong mental game. For sprinters you don’t need a strong mental head to win because they are only on the track for less than a minute. They need speed and physical strength to win. But a long distance lasts for a really long time and I always fall off. Hard.

There is always that moment that I am running and it’s like i ran into a wall head on. I don’t know how to meditate because I think it’s kind of dumb to sit there and look at nothing so i “relax” by just listening to my music while i stretch or just lay around. But when I look at my teammates race, they are so relaxed and it makes me so jealous to see that in them. I keep telling myself I won’t be like them because they are to good for me. But this year we got a new assistant coach and he is really cheerful and brings the moral of the whole team up. He occasionally talks to me about the mental aspect of racing and suggest some strategies for me to use. At the time I’m typing this post, I have a race on Saturday. I’m going to be strong and I won’t let my team down. I won’t be thinking about how long or how hard or how fast it will be. The word mentality will not pop up in my head until my race is over. When I start to reflect upon my race, I will accept the results I got and it will be good. It has to be.

first post

What is there to talk about in your first blog post? Should the subject be about my hobbies or maybe something I absolutely despise. There is much to type about but of course your mind is completely blank. But do you know what I love…? Dogs! But I don’t own a dog so my life isn’t complete. What if I went out and got a dog today. Or tomorrow. Or in 20 years. Who knows right?
